Eight other defendants received five-year prison terms, Kuwait’s Crimes and Courts outlet and Gulf News, citing Al-Rai, report. The case includes charges of joining a prohibited organisation and harming national interests.

Prosecutors also alleged plans to use explosives. These details describe the charges and court decision, rather than the carrying out of sentences. The case must still pass through the appeals court, Kuwait Times says; the full judgment’s reasoning was not examined for this brief.
