Senegal lawmakers reject revised budget in plenary
Senegal’s National Assembly rejected the revised budget bill on 3 November 2026. The plenary vote marks a further stage in the budget impasse after committee rejections.
The chamber confirms the rejection of bill 40/2026. According to SenePlus, a preliminary motion passed by 109 votes to 20 with three abstentions, ending consideration without a debate on the substance.
Lawmakers criticise the budget’s credibility and social spending cuts. The finance minister disputes their objections, SenePlus reports. The disagreement includes a deficit presented at 7.6% of GDP.
The vote represents neither approval of a revised budget nor an IMF financing agreement. The next procedural steps remain to be established.
