WHO Europe launches a hub to help health workers discuss alcohol

WHO Europe launched a digital hub for health professionals on October 14, 2026 to identify alcohol-related risks and facilitate conversations with patients, according to UN News. It includes an artificial intelligence assistant.

The platform brings together guidance, practical tools and resources for brief interventions. WONCA Europe, which had announced a launch webinar for that day, also describes demonstration videos and the hub’s place in the WHO–European Union EVID-ACTION project.

According to UN News, health workers can use a ten-question screening tool and then consult the assistant to prepare a conversation or find guidance. The stated aim is to make these discussions easier to include in routine consultations.
