Thousands gathered outside Portugal’s parliament in Lisbon on the evening of 27 October 2026 to defend housing rights. The protest coincided with lawmakers opening debate on the 2027 state budget.

The rally brought together Acampada Lisboa, active in Rossio Square, and the Casa Para Viver platform. RTP’s reporting and a Lusa dispatch described large crowds on São Bento street and around the Assembly of the Republic.

The protest also challenged police operations against activist camps in Lisbon and Porto. Demonstrators demanded responses to the housing crisis and condemned the treatment of those movements.

Late that evening, organisers decided against setting up camp outside parliament, citing inadequate safety conditions. They announced continued regular action in Rossio Square from 28 October, according to RTP and Portugal Resident.
