Bank of Thailand keeps its policy rate at 1%
The Bank of Thailand held its policy rate at 1% on 28 October 2026. Members attending the committee meeting voted unanimously, with one member absent.
The central bank considers this level supportive of an uneven recovery. It forecasts growth of 2.4% in 2026 and 2.1% in 2027; these figures are projections.
Technology-related exports and investment support activity, but the bank highlights weak domestic demand and household indebtedness. Lending to small and medium-sized businesses continues to contract.
Average inflation is projected at 2.1% this year and 1.3% in 2027. The institution is monitoring risks from oil prices and El Niño.
