Where things stand

Egypt announces local MAGE EV production at El Nasr

Al-Mal and Arqam describe a launch ceremony attended by the industry and electricity ministers. The 45% share remains an announced figure, with no independent industrial audit provided in those reports.

According to Al-Mal, SN Automotive plans to announce prices in the first quarter of 2027 ahead of market introduction. Launching production therefore does not establish that the car is already available to buy. The minister wants to expand Egyptian component manufacturing, including for electric vehicles; that ambition is not evidence of capacity already achieved.

The Mal wa Aamal programme's factory visit shows robotic welding and assembly equipment as part of preparations for a locally assembled electric vehicle.

The figures remain those of the officials interviewed and do not constitute a production audit. The report does not establish the exact share of Egyptian components or show that the target of 80 vehicles a day has been reached.
