The assistant is designed to use the open document to help draft text, design slides or organise data. It requires an Apple Intelligence-capable device running at least iOS 27, iPadOS 27 or macOS 27.

On Mac, Model Context Protocol support is intended to let external agents read and edit these documents; it requires macOS 27. The update carries no extra charge for subscribers. Apple is keeping free versions of the three apps, which alone do not provide access to these assistants.
