SOS inaugurates a village for children without family support in Dakhla
SOS Children’s Villages Morocco inaugurated its sixth village on 31 October 2026 in Dakhla, Moroccan Sahara, according to press reports. It is the organisation’s first village in the southern provinces.
The site has eight family homes and four transitional housing units, alongside educational, cultural and sports facilities. Sources describe capacity for roughly one hundred beneficiaries, without giving a figure for children already admitted.
The association also plans a family strengthening programme in 2027 for one hundred vulnerable single mothers and two hundred children. The intended support aims to promote economic independence and prevent family separation; the programme has yet to launch.
