Frankfurt authorities report 54 arrests after unrest
Hesse authorities reported 54 arrests on 1 November 2026 following unrest in Frankfurt the previous night. They reported around one hundred injured police officers and 17 damaged shops, five of them looted.
Those arrested are aged 13 to 29, according to state Interior Minister Roman Poseck, cited by Reuters and ANP/dpa. These figures are the authorities’ reported tally, not judicial convictions.
The incidents followed youth demonstrations over living costs and education. Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt pledged that perpetrators would be identified and held accountable. Peaceful gatherings elsewhere remain distinct from the Frankfurt violence.
