Where things stand

On 1 November 2026, flash estimates show third-quarter GDP down 3.8% year on year but up 1.3% from the previous quarter after seasonal adjustment.

Saudi GDP falls 3.8% year on year in third quarter

Saudi Arabia's real GDP declined 3.8% in the third quarter of 2026 from the same period of 2025, according to the statistics authority's flash estimates published on 1 November. The annual decline had been 4.7% in the second quarter.

Oil activities contracted 20.4% year on year while non-oil activities grew 1.9%. Government activities fell 2.7%, according to the figures reported by Arab News and Arabic-language media.

The comparison with the preceding quarter tells a different story: seasonally adjusted GDP increased 1.3%. This quarterly rebound coexists with the annual decline and does not mean output has returned to its 2025 level. The estimates remain preliminary and may be revised.
