Saudi Arabia’s Asian Cup postponed to late 2027

The Asian Football Confederation announced on 3 November 2026 that the Asian Cup hosted by Saudi Arabia is being postponed. Originally scheduled for 7 January–5 February 2027, it is now proposed for 23 December 2027–21 January 2028, subject to FIFA approval.

Following consultations with the Saudi federation and local organisers, the AFC cited regional circumstances, logistical difficulties and travel disruptions. This is a schedule change; the material reviewed does not announce a change of host country.

Football Australia explicitly notes that the new dates require FIFA approval. Final approval of the international schedule therefore remains pending.
