Where things stand

As of 3 November 2026, the report has been launched in Nairobi. Its results describe an earlier data collection, rather than real-time health measurements.

Kenya’s new health survey measures development from three months

Kenya’s 2025–2026 Mini Demographic and Health Survey was launched in Nairobi on 3 November 2026, WHO announces. For the first time in this national survey, it measures child development from the age of three months.

The national statistics bureau’s report uses a representative sample of 29,935 households. Data were collected from 5 November 2025 to 10 February 2026: publication does not mean they describe November 2026 alone.

According to WHO, the youngest children are assessed using its Global Scales for Early Development. For children aged 24–59 months, the report uses UNICEF’s Early Childhood Development Index.

These indicators are intended to guide national and local policy. They are not individual diagnoses for every child.
