On 2 November 2026, OpenAI detailed Pando, which it says has served production traffic since April. The publication describes internal infrastructure.

OpenAI details Pando, its Git backend for parallel Codex work

OpenAI presented Pando on 2 November 2026, the internal infrastructure handling Git exchanges for its main code repository. The company says it has served production traffic since April and now supports all development in that repository.

Git keeps code history and lets teams exchange changes. OpenAI says it adapted its infrastructure to growing numbers of branches and concurrent operations by engineers and Codex.

Pando distributes writes and reuses data packs across readers, with regional caches, while preserving teams' Git commands and working habits. The aim is to reduce bottlenecks when multiple agents work in parallel.

This is an account of an internal system, not the announcement of a public Git service. The described gains remain OpenAI's measurements in its own environment.
