Where things stand

Sidra Medicine presented an atlas linking DNA variation to gene activity in blood on 4 November 2026. The institution says the study, based on nearly 2,000 Qatar Biobank participants, is published in Nature Genetics.

According to Sidra, researchers combined genome sequencing, blood gene expression and clinical information. The aim is to better interpret genetic variation in Middle Eastern populations underrepresented in global research.

This is a research resource. Proposed benefits for risk assessment, biomarkers or future treatments are not demonstrated clinical outcomes in patients. The full study could not be accessed during this check, so the findings are attributed to the institution.
