Where things stand

As of 3 November 2026, five patients have left hospital and two remain in care. The ministry reports nine cumulative cases including two deaths, and 52 contacts still monitored. Surveillance continues.

The five had completed treatment and were symptom-free, Kenyans.co.ke reports. Their discharge reduces the number in hospital without changing the cumulative infection count.

The ministry reports nine confirmed cases, including two deaths, and no new case since 19 October. It also announces the completion of monitoring for 46 contacts, while 52 remain under observation.

These advances do not amount to a declaration that the outbreak is over. The ministry maintains surveillance and response measures.

Ebola: Saudi Arabia announces travel restrictions involving Kenya

Saudi Arabia announced on 30 October 2026 that it was suspending its citizens’ travel to Kenya, alongside visas and entry for travellers arriving from the country, as part of precautionary measures against Ebola.

According to the measures reported by Saudi Gazette and Okaz, the entry ban also covers people arriving through a third country who stayed in Kenya or another outbreak-affected country during the preceding 21 days. Recent travel history, rather than only the last departure airport, therefore determines its scope.

Authorities describe the decision as following an assessment of epidemiological risk. It does not announce cases in Saudi Arabia. The reports consulted do not specify an end date.

Another 98 contacts remain in quarantine. Their release is due to begin in phases on 3 November, depending on individual assessments, the health ministry says.

The reported total remains nine confirmed cases, including two deaths; the seven surviving patients are described as stable. This first release does not mark the end of the outbreak: health surveillance continues, and officials urge communities to welcome those returning without stigma.
