UAE: health facilities take over sick-leave attestation requests

The UAE Health Ministry announced on 4 November 2026 a process allowing licensed health facilities to request sick-leave attestation directly for patients and their companions.

Eligible requests move automatically to approval without a second individual application. This integration covers federal employees and local government staff in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, subject to the prescribed conditions.

The reform concerns attestation and approval procedures. It aims to reduce paperwork; the reports do not yet provide measured time savings.
