The Drug Safety Centre carried out the review as part of its periodic assessment of prices. Cuts vary by product: Al Shabiba reports a range of 0.04% to 88.09%. The largest reduction therefore does not apply across all medicines.

The ministry presents the measure as a way to reduce patients' expenses and improve treatment access. The consulted sources do not establish savings already achieved in pharmacies or provide a product-by-product list for this report.
