Banks: reports show rising deposits and household non-performing loans

Bank Al-Maghrib data reported on 6 November 2026 put deposits at 1,448.7 billion dirhams at end-September, up 10.3% annually. Hespress also reports household non-performing loans of 44.3 billion dirhams.

Those loans rose 5% year on year and represented 10.9% of household lending, according to the newspaper’s account of the November monthly review.

Madar21 also reports the deposit figures. These are end-September banking stocks, rather than flows recorded in November. Rising deposits and overdue loans are different indicators and do not establish the financial position of individual households.
