The fleet comprised 52 ceremonial vessels. Khaosod reports that about 2,200 personnel took part, including the oarsmen. Spectators gathered on both riverbanks to watch the boats pass.

The event formed part of celebrations of the queen’s 48th birthday, which fell on 3 June. The Nation describes vessel restoration and crew rehearsals combining naval skills, craftsmanship and religious practice. This was the ceremony held on 6 November, following rehearsals in October.
