Japan allocates 10 billion yen to emergency cyber package using AI

Japan announced an emergency cyberattack package on 6 November 2026, with initial funding of about 10 billion yen. Artificial intelligence is to support protective measures.

The package strengthens intelligence gathering, investigations and analysis, attack response and victim assistance. The government is still examining funding for the full programme, so the initial allocation is not its total cost.

AFP, carried by CNA, reports that the measures follow intrusion reports and possible data leaks at dozens of businesses. The announcements do not yet establish the effectiveness of the new defences or show that AI caused all those attacks.
