Sri Lankan delegation discusses Buddhist heritage in Islamabad

A Sri Lankan delegation including Buddhist religious figures and academics visited Pakistan’s foreign ministry on 3 November 2026, according to accounts citing the ministry’s spokesperson.

The meeting addressed Gandhara heritage and opportunities for religious tourism in Pakistan. Participants also discussed university partnerships, joint archaeological research and cultural exchanges.

These options were presented as subjects of discussion. The English and Urdu accounts rely on the ministry’s communication; they do not establish the signing of a final agreement or the actual launch of a joint archaeological project.
