Paris Masters: Musetti beats Zverev in the German’s first match as world No. 1

Lorenzo Musetti beat Alexander Zverev 7-6, 6-2 in the second round of the Rolex Paris Masters on 4 November 2026. It was the German’s first match since reaching No. 1 in the ATP rankings.

The Italian won the opening set in a tiebreak before taking a clear advantage in the second. The victory sends him into the last 16 of the Paris Masters 1000, played indoors on hard courts.

Musetti is due to face France’s Luca Van Assche, who beat Learner Tien 7-6, 6-4. According to Tennis Majors and Italpress, Musetti now leads Zverev four wins to two in their meetings. The top seed’s elimination ends his run in this event; these results do not announce a change at the top of the world rankings.
