Comoros opens a consulate-general in Laayoune

On 18 December 2019, Comoros inaugurates a consulate-general in Laayoune, according to MAP’s report.

The opening becomes a milestone in Morocco’s consular diplomacy in Moroccan Sahara cities. Rabat presents these representations as support for its sovereignty.

Each opening nevertheless requires examining the relevant state’s declared position. Consulate counts, support for autonomy and formal recognition are different indicators; no unverified count is treated here as a collective UN vote.
