Oman announces average 22.4% price cut for 290 medicines

Published

Oman's Ministry of Health announced reductions in the prices of 290 pharmaceutical products on 5 November 2026, averaging 22.4%, according to local reports relaying its announcement.

The Drug Safety Centre carried out the review as part of its periodic assessment of prices. Cuts vary by product: Al Shabiba reports a range of 0.04% to 88.09%. The largest reduction therefore does not apply across all medicines.

The ministry presents the measure as a way to reduce patients' expenses and improve treatment access. The consulted sources do not establish savings already achieved in pharmacies or provide a product-by-product list for this report.
