Vessel reported on fire southeast of Iraq’s Al-Faw

The UK Maritime Trade Operations centre announced on 26 October 2026 that it had received several reports of a vessel on fire 63 nautical miles southeast of Al-Faw, Iraq. The vessel’s identity and crew status were not established in the initial advisory.

The report is based on third-party information. According to gCaptain, UKMTO classified it as suspicious activity rather than a confirmed attack. The cause of the fire, damage and any environmental impact remain unknown in the consulted material.

UKMTO advised ships to transit with caution and report suspicious activity while authorities investigate. A reported fire in an area affected by tensions does not by itself establish responsibility or identify a particular weapon.
