Cyclone Arnab reaches India's east coast after evacuations

Cyclone Arnab reached the Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coast in eastern India on the morning of 28 October 2026. Tens of thousands had been evacuated from exposed areas, according to authorities cited by AP.

Bulletins and reporting placed landfall between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam, south of Yanam. Sources did not give a uniform time for its completion: several still described a slow landfall process during the morning.

India's weather service warned of intense rain and strong winds in coastal Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha. Local reporting described uprooted trees and blocked roads.

The forecast of weakening inland does not mean rain and flooding risks have ended. The sources consulted do not establish a consolidated damage tally.
