FuriosaAI announces $620 million for AI chips

South Korean chipmaker FuriosaAI announced a $620 million Series D on 28 October 2026, at a post-money valuation of $2.9 billion. South Korea's National Growth Fund is contributing $280 million.

The money is intended to scale RNGD accelerator production, improve its software and fund a third generation developed with Broadcom. FuriosaAI targets 20,000 units in 2026 and more than 40,000 in 2027; these are production goals.

RNGD runs already-trained models, a task called inference. The company names Samsung SDS, LG and Upstage as users. Its energy-saving claims remain dependent on the models and workloads tested.
