Paris exhibition explores Maghrebi contributions to French cinema

The National Museum of Immigration History opens “A History of French Cinema: Maghrebi Legacies” on 30 October 2026. The exhibition at the Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris is scheduled to run until 21 March 2027.

The exhibition examines the contribution of filmmakers and performers of Maghrebi immigrant origin since the 1960s. Film excerpts and archival material trace these artistic careers, with a screening programme accompanying the exhibition.

Clémentine Deroudille and Lucile Humbert Beldjoudi curate the show. Reporting by 20 Minutes describes a display bringing together popular figures and lesser-known works, extending beyond a history confined to immigrant characters on screen.
