Mohammed VI announces comprehensive constitutional reform

On 9 March 2011, Mohammed VI announces constitutional revision in an address to the nation. He proposes strengthening institutions, rights and regionalization, alongside recognition of Morocco’s diverse identity.

The address provides for a revision commission chaired by Abdeltif Mennouni. It starts a process with separate stages: presentation of the draft in June, the referendum and promulgation of the new text.
