AstraZeneca targets $1.5 billion in annual savings

AstraZeneca presented a restructuring plan on 30 October 2026 targeting $1.5 billion in annual savings. The company also reported a 7% rise in third-quarter revenue to $16.209 billion.

Reported earnings per share reached $2.02, up 23%, while the underlying Core measure was $2.79, up 17%. These measures have different scopes and should not be conflated.

According to Euronews, the Reshaping for Sustainable Growth programme is to be largely completed by the end of 2029 and could incur up to $2 billion in one-off charges. The planned savings are intended mainly for reinvestment in drug development.

Full-year guidance remains unchanged. The savings are a future target; the publications reviewed do not provide a job-cut total associated with the plan.
