Taipei: Shen seeks a second debate after first clash

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an and challenger Puma Shen completed their first televised debate on 31 October 2026 ahead of the 28 November election. Shen sought a second meeting, without securing a firm commitment to a date.

The event, organized by TVBS and SET, lasted two hours and ended at 2 p.m. local time. The Kuomintang mayor and Democratic Progressive Party candidate challenged each other on city management, housing and school meals, among other issues.

After the broadcast, Chiang said he was open to another debate, pending media invitations and consultations. Shen said he wanted further exchanges. That openness does not amount to an agreement to hold another meeting.
