OpenAI reportedly cuts fundraising target from $30 billion to $20 billion

OpenAI is now seeking $20 billion, down from an initial $30 billion, at a $1.25 trillion valuation, the Financial Times reported, according to Reuters on 30 October 2026.

The Wall Street Journal separately reports about $11 billion in commitments so far, according to Investing.com. These are reported commitments, rather than a public $20 billion closing or proof that all funds have been received.

The earlier valuation target was $1.4 trillion. Reporting places the adjustment amid investor caution over AI spending. The round's final terms and actually closed amount are not established by the consulted sources.
