Nador West Med launches operations at its first container terminal

Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan launched operations at Nador West Med’s eastern terminal in Iaazzanene on 31 October 2026, on King Mohammed VI’s instructions, MAP reported.

The launch included the first unloading of a container from a commercial vessel. It marks a stage in bringing the industrial and port complex into operation, without establishing that all its facilities are already operational.

According to MAP, the eastern terminal targets capacity of 3.5 million containers by 2030. The western terminal is scheduled to enter service in April 2027. These are announced capacities and deadlines, rather than figures for traffic already handled.
