Hespress reports MAD 730 million recovered through AI-assisted customs targeting

Hespress reported on 1 November 2026, citing unnamed sources, that AI-assisted customs checks had recovered MAD 730 million. The amount is not independently corroborated.

The newspaper notes that an adjustment does not invariably establish deliberate fraud.

The World Customs Organization’s Risk Management Compendium presents data analysis and artificial-intelligence systems as tools to identify risks and guide checks. That methodological framework explains their role; it does not validate this Moroccan tally or establish the responsibility of the importers concerned.
