Moyale: gunfire persists on Ethiopian border as freight stalls
Gunfire was again heard on 30 October 2026 on the Ethiopian side of Moyale as residents fled into Kenya. An AP journalist recorded it from the Kenyan side; Kaab TV also reports residents’ accounts.
Cargo trucks remain stranded on both sides of the border, according to AP. Tensions involve Ethiopia’s Oromia and Somali regional administrations over a territorial dispute.
Arrivals of displaced people are increasing the needs of host communities in Marsabit, which already face difficulties accessing water and food. Local authorities are requesting humanitarian support.
Available information does not establish the casualty toll for 30 October or responsibility for initiating the renewed clashes.
