Google announces Gemini 4 Carbon, initially for cyber defenders
Google announced Gemini 4 Carbon on 28 October 2026, targeting coding and cybersecurity among other tasks. Rollout is due to start this week with selected cyber defenders through its Fairwind program.
Developers, businesses and consumers must wait: no general-release date has been announced. Google's introductory prices are $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, rising later to $4 and $20 with no specified deadline.
Google reports gains in finding and patching vulnerabilities and in long coding tasks. Its published security results measure specific tests, some run without guardrails; they do not guarantee error-free or vulnerability-free real-world use.
