Four killed in Italian helicopter crash in Bosnia
An Italian helicopter serving with the EU’s EUFOR Althea mission crashed near Brčko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 29 October 2026. Italy’s defence ministry reports four dead and eleven injured.
Fifteen people were aboard the Chinook. The ministry says the dead were two army personnel and two members of the Italian Red Cross Volunteer Military Corps. The injured are receiving treatment and none is in a life-threatening condition, according to the same account.
The cause is under investigation. This toll supersedes lower initial local figures issued during rescue operations. The Althea mission supports implementation of the Dayton peace agreement.
