Where things stand

As of 29 October 2026, WHO Europe announces a shared 2026–2033 roadmap; national implementation remains to be tracked.

WHO Europe’s 53 states adopt an AI health roadmap

All 53 member states of the WHO European Region unanimously adopted their first AI health roadmap, the organisation announced on 29 October 2026. The framework covers Europe and Central Asia for 2026–2033.

It sets four priorities: governance; ethical and legal frameworks; data and infrastructure; and skills and implementation support. It draws on a 2025 regional assessment answered by fifty countries.

Adoption establishes a shared direction. It does not demonstrate that systems have been deployed everywhere or that clinical benefits have been achieved; concrete measures and evaluation must be documented country by country.
