Where things stand

As of 29 October 2026, IBM presents revision 4.1.1; its announcement and model card differ on speech-language count.

IBM updates Granite Switch without retraining the base model

IBM presented Granite Switch 4.1.1 on 29 October 2026 as an update to its modular models. The team says only the speech-recognition component and Decision adapter were retrained, leaving the base model unchanged.

The revision preserves version 4.1 interfaces and adds multilingual transcription with punctuation. The 30B model card lists seven languages, including French, while the announcement says ten; exact coverage needs checking for each component.

Weights are available under Apache 2.0. IBM is also preparing a kit for third parties to create their own adapters; announcing it does not mean that kit is already available.
