EAC announces AI and biotechnology strategies

The EAC announced on 31 October 2026 that ministers in Kampala had adopted regional strategies for artificial intelligence, digital transformation and biotechnology.

Ministers also approved an introductory AI module for undergraduates, according to the statement.

States are to consider incorporating it into degree programmes, while IUCEA prepares an implementation framework. These decisions do not establish that the module is already being taught everywhere.
