Azerbaijan: Musayev reports on the first heart transplants

Kamran Musayev, honorary chairman of the Cardiovascular Surgery Society, reported on 31 October 2026 that four heart transplants in Azerbaijan had been technically successful over a year. He was speaking at the TRANSPLANT 360° conference during Heart Transplantation Week.

Daily Baku and Report describe his aim of turning these initial operations into a sustainable programme able to treat more patients. Musayev presents the activity as a practical test of the donation and transplantation chain.

The reported technical success does not, by itself, establish recipients’ long-term survival or recovery. The sources consulted provide no precise timetable for expanding the programme.
