Riyadh robotic breast reconstruction described as a national first
Riyadh’s Security Forces Hospital has performed robot-assisted breast reconstruction, described as a Saudi first in reports published on 2 November 2026. Arab News says the 43-year-old patient had undergone a mastectomy after a cancer diagnosis.
Surgeon Faisal Al-Faqih told Al-Ekhbariya, in comments carried by Ajel, that the team transfers abdominal skin and fat to the chest using microsurgery. He says the robot allows smaller incisions while preserving the abdominal wall.
Those benefits remain attributed to the practitioner: the reports provide neither a controlled clinical comparison nor long-term follow-up measuring fewer complications. The exact operation date is not given; 2 November is the date of the media coverage.
