Maternal health: minister reports a 35% decline without specifying the period
Health Minister Youns Bjijou reported a roughly 35% fall in Morocco’s maternal mortality in Rabat on 2 November 2026, according to SantéMag and Express TV. The reports do not specify the comparison periods.
The minister was speaking at a reception for delegations attending governing-body meetings of the Global Financing Facility for women, children and adolescents, known as the GFF. He also cited a decline in neonatal mortality from 21.7 to 13.56 deaths per thousand births.
These figures are attributed to the minister. Without a detailed period, statistical series and methodology in the consulted material, they cannot establish an improvement in 2026 alone or assess territorial inequalities in access to care.
