The transaction would increase Lonza’s US manufacturing network from four to nine sites and bring about 1,100 employees into the group. The activities include bioconjugates, viral vectors and drug-delivery technologies.

The scope includes facilities in California, Wisconsin, Missouri and Indiana. Until closing, the business remains within Merck. The announcement establishes a sale agreement, with no completed transfer of control.
