The chip embeds a Vietnamese-developed cryptographic algorithm directly in silicon. VOV describes a 10-by-10-millimetre component using 28-nanometre CMOS technology and containing roughly 300 million transistors.

The developers emphasise domestic control of design and cryptography. Published speed gains come from their tests; they are not an independent assessment of security, resistance to attacks or commercial deployment.
