Culture Minister Ernest Urtasun announced the award, worth €125,000. The jury highlighted the distinctive and coherent nature of her career, and her ability to uncover unease in everyday life while preserving the ambiguity of her stories.

Born in Arenys de Mar in 1945, the author’s books include Mi hermana Elba and La habitación de Nona. The award recognises her body of work and contribution to Hispanic literature, rather than selecting only a newly published book.
