Singapore launches Pango, on-device AI to spot scam messages

GovTech unveiled AntiScam Pango on 4 November 2026, an Android beta app developed with Google DeepMind. It analyses WhatsApp, Telegram and SMS notifications to warn users about suspicious conversations.

GovTech says analysis runs entirely on the phone: messages leave it only when the user submits a report. The app can flag a sender never previously reported and does not automatically block conversations.

Its limits are practical: the model mainly works in English, can struggle with slang and requires at least 6 GB of RAM. GovTech is exploring integration into ScamShield and protection for iPhones, with no announced timetable.
