2027 budget: French Assembly rejects revenue section; bill heads to Senate

France’s National Assembly rejected the revenue section of the 2027 state budget bill on the evening of 4 November 2026 by 458 votes against and none in favour. Two MPs abstained.

The vote ends the Assembly’s first-reading examination without discussion of the spending section. According to LCP and AFP, the government’s initial version, rather than the text amended by MPs, is to be examined in the Senate from 20 November.

The parliamentary rejection does not adopt an alternative budget. Further proceedings and efforts to reach a compromise remain necessary. The vote’s result is established; the finance bill’s final outcome remains open.
