According to the manufacturer, the trials will gather data in real traffic. The permit covers development and testing; it is not approval to sell vehicles with an active Level 3 driving mode.

Volkswagen’s statement does not identify the models or fleet size. The 2027 milestone remains an announced industrial target, with its achievement and commercial approvals to be documented separately.
