Ghana’s Health Ministry says DHIMS has been restored

Ghana’s Health Ministry announced on 6 November 2026 that the District Health Information Management System, DHIMS, was fully operational again after an interruption. It said GHIMS, the system used for hospital patient records, had remained unaffected.

DHIMS is managed by the Ghana Health Service and collects and manages health information at district level. The ministry’s clarification distinguishes that reporting tool from hospital medical-record software.

Earlier that day, the parliamentary minority requested an investigation. It attributed the outage to Akamai suspending ten servers over an unpaid bill of $64,510.95 and said access had been disrupted since 29 October.

Restoration is a ministry announcement reported by MyJoyOnline. The available documents provide neither an independent technical test of the service nor investigative findings on contractual responsibility.
